scholarships

are scholarships handed out on a rolling basis?

I don’t believe they are. The scholarship deadline is Dec. 1st. After that date, all the applications are considered. I believe we found out in March that my S received the Presidential Endowed Scholarship (in addition to NM scholarship).

Mine were handed out on a rolling basis. Every now and then I would get a letter saying I was getting some new one.Sometimes, they inexplicably replaced one scholarship they had awarded me in Dec. with a higher one in March. And they never said why! My scholarship awards page kept adding and subtracting awards(always to my benefit) right up to the time I was name NMF. At that time several others were negated based upon the higher NMF ones.

Wow, I am totally confused now…both of u were NM and yet, received scholarships @ diff times!
btw, if u weren’t a NM, do u still have a good chance of getting big scholarships??

The NMFs definitely get the money, but if you aren’t, you need really good test scores…it is all about the stats…a lot of the money I got besides the NMF was for test scores. Also, the depts. give out money later than the University scholarships.

bandnerd, ur stats?

NMF, Top 3%. 1520 SAT, 35 ACT. Heavy into band and church activities/leadership.
