My D is concerned about the required copyright release if she is fortunate enough to win an award in the SAWA. The release grants exclusive right to the Scholastic folks for two years if the work/portfolio wins an award. Does anyone else have a similar concern? If not, do you feel the award is sufficient compensation for two years of exclusive rights? I am very uninformed on such matters and would greatly appreciate the input of those who have experience in this area. Thanks in advance.

is definitely worth the two years

and its only if it wins national i believe…not neccessarily regional

It’s well worth it, and yes, at least as of three years ago, it only applied to national awards, not regional.

Good luck!
