Mine updated. Didn’t win anything :frowning:

@doodlebean8 @scertuik @blue1nk me neither dw we got it next year / other comps

^^^ @all who didn’t make it: don’t worry, scholastic is so subjective, and it’s not the be all end all. we chillin.

@ghostjazz that’s right :slight_smile: I’m happy with how I went so far. This is my first time submitting, so here’s to next year!

i got two gold medals and a best-in-grade award omg

to everyone who didn’t get anything this year—keep trying! i’ve submitted every year since seventh grade and this is the first year i’ve gotten a national award. scholastic is so subjective and a lot of it is luck. you’re all such amazing artists and writers :heart: i know your work is brilliant!

CONGRATS @bluets !!! That’s great news :slight_smile:

@bluets congratssss:))))))

im just kinda annoyed bcuz i just got waitlisted at a bunch of boarding schools i applied to and was hoping to improve my chances on the waitlist with scholastic, or improve my chances next year when I reapply

tbh i didn’t expect to win anything

I won three gold keys this year, no national medals. I can’t even lie, I’m pretty upset. Nothing to show colleges next year.

I got two golds and one silver :slight_smile: but everyone who didn’t get anything, I know it’s hard, but please don’t let it feel like a determinate of your writing/artistic abilities. Scholastic is incredibly subjective and really just follows a certain aesthetic tbh. And for anyone worrying about showing writing to colleges, there are a ton of other writing contests that you can still apply to! I know there are a bunch of essay contests coming up for high schoolers, but every month many literary journals also have monthly contests. Also, if you’re passionate, it will definitely show through. Great job guys I’m proud of all of you ?

gold medal in poetry!

i put a lot of effort into this piece and it’s one of my favorites so im so mf happy that it got chosen oh my god

and i agree with @bluets - if you didn’t win, please keep trying! ive also submitted every year since 7th grade, and i’ve only really won last year and this year. you guys are so talented; im rooting for all of you! and others have already stressed this, but scholastic is very very subjective and is most definitely not a judge of your artistic abilities.

Congrats @hihelloo on your medals!!! And to all who didn’t get anything (including me) we just need to remember that Scholastic isn’t the end-all. We write/make art to tell stories to the world. We can still do it with or without Scholastic. Idk guys I’m pretty proud of us :slight_smile:

Silver in poetry!
And I agree with @blue1nk , I really liked how they phrased it: we write/make art to tell stories to the world. I hope this lowkey sadistic college process of quantifying our talent and effort won’t discourage us from creating in the future.

@galactoc
Ugh that’s so annoying. I feel you, for real. I hope you try your best in some other contests/ college essays and keep fighting till the end! Remember, there WILL be a college that sees your potential, and if they don’t, it’s THEIR loss.

Yay! Ended up with a silver medal

@bluets @NoShotsThrown @spinnypeeps That’s incredible!!! Congrats!

To everyone who won a gold medal or a special achievement award: I hope to see you at Carnegie Hall in June! For everyone who didn’t, I hope to read your work on bookshelves or to see your work in museums in the future! These awards do not define us as writers or artists. I’m proud of all of you!
