I saw this in the local paper. Plano is a very, very affluent community north of Dallas. Its school district is considered to be one of the best in the state.

A complaint made by** one couple** about a humanities textbook in the gifted and talented program resulted in a temporary banning of the book. In the many years this textbook has been used, there has never before been a complaint lodged about it.

It’s mind boggling to me how one offended parent can even temporarily re-shape curriculum which has presumably been carefully considered and approved. As a lover of classical art, I believe this whole episode reflects very poorly on the officials involved. Fortunately, the other parents rallied, complained, and the decision was reversed.

I really enjoyed the comments posted to the article, specifically those made by former and current students.
