School in NY for a B student???

When you say premed, what precisely do you mean? You can be a Philosophy or Theater or Engineering major and be premed as long as you take the usual prereqs for application to med school and do well enough on the MCAT.

i meant majoring in biology

UB is great, but make sure you get the inner-city location, because unless you like living in the suburbs, Amherst is somewhat boring. But there is also Buf. State, and SUNY, in the Buffalo area.

NYU-poly for engineerings

1) SUNY Purchase may not be the best option for Biology or Pre-med. It is known for performance arts.
2) Rochester is definitely a reach.
3) I like Buffalo or Stony Brook for pre-med in the SUNY system for B student. What is your raking? You take 5 APs by graduation so that you might have a chance in Geneseo or Binghamton. You just need matches and safeties.

Hope this will help. :)

As both SUNY’s and Syracuse have been mentioned and you are interested in the sciences, you should also check out [SUNY-ESF: SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry](http://www.esf.edu)
I believe they have pre-med advising and they are in close proximity to Upstate Medical center in syracuse.
Suny program- suny tuition and living on the syracuse campus.
Not a bad deal for the right kid.
Also U Buffalo and stony brook would probably work well for you too.

St. Johns is an easy school to get a good GPA in. My sister used to go there for PA (physician’s assistant) and she said they have really nice Chemistry professors and Biology wasn’t too bad. She was able to get a 3.5 GPA her first semester and she had like a 3.0 in HS.

Now that both of us are in CUNY schools (she transferred because she hated it there), she said CUNYs are a lot harder because they count attendance and they count homework.

Queens, Hunter and CCNY are good for Biology. CCNY is pretty tough though IMHO, they’re very finicky on exams and grading.

From a friend that’s doing Pharmacy at Buffalo, he says it’s also very easy. He did poorly on three exams but he aced the final. Guess what? He got an A- in the class. At a CUNY school, that wouldn’t be the grade you would get.

Binghamton I heard is good too. Just try to look into some schools and see which one is better.

Oh I forgot to say, Stony Brook might also be good for Biology. Some Biology majors are working at NYU Hospital (My mom works there). Maybe if you do good, chance at NYU Med school?

Rochester and Colgate are high reaches. SUNY Binghamton and Geneseo are low reaches. I think you have a decent shot at Syracuse, Fordham, and SUNY Stony Brook. You’ll get into all the other SUNYs. All these schools can be challenging so expect to work hard to get a good GPA for med school.

If you don’t get into the SUNYs like Stony Brook or Buffalo. You can look into the CUNYs. They can be your safeties. CUNY Hunter isn’t bad for pre-med and its a cheaper option.

SUNY New Paltz has a good biology dept and I heard they are building a brand new science building. [State University of New York at New Paltz: Biology Department](SUNY New Paltz | Biology)

i say
suny binghamton could be ur target school.
and possible syracuse or rochester ur a slight of a reach?
