School/major change before enrolling?

Hello, all you magnificent CCers… long-time lurker, first-time poster.

So here’s my problem: I’m admitted to Auburn as a Presidential Scholar in Biosystems Engineering (S. Ginn College of Engineering) but would like to transfer into Biomedical Sciences (College of Science and Mathematics).

Questions:

1) How would I go about doing this? Should I change it now or wait until I enroll? Who would I contact about this? How difficult is it to switch colleges before enrolling?

2) Could this possibly affect merit aid?

3) What do you like most about Auburn? (This isn’t related, but I’d like to know :D)

Thanks, guys!

1) You would need to contact COSAM (College of Science and Mathematics) as well as your advisor in the College of Engineering. Depending on space, you may or may not be admitted, considering you are a Presidential scholar, I’m pretty sure you will get in with no problem.

If you can’t change colleges before Fall 2010, don’t fret about it. Pretty much all Freshman take the same basic classes. Though it would be to your benefit to switch as soon as possible :)

2) This is something you would need to talk about with an advisor in COSAM and your current advisor. I wouldn’t think it would effect anything.

3) I’m a Freshman at Auburn University this year who had no intention at being here at all. I was accepted into UF, UMiami, Emory, Washu, and GaTech and I practically cried when I found out I couldn’t go to any of those schools due to money. My first semester was a little rough (maybe my bad attitude), I rushed panhellenic (happened to not work out) but so far I have loved this semester. I live in the Quad and I am a Pre-Optometry with Biomedical Science major. It’s tough, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it! Also, I’m involved in UPC-Major Entertainment, Concert Band, and a service sorority. I’m sure you’ll love it here  Auburn is great because you don’t need to be in a sorority or fraternity to have friends!
