School of Art and School of Computer Science Question

If majoring into the School of Art, would one still have to take the SAT Subject Tests in order to double major with HCII>

I have to admit, the reason I’m pursuing this is because I really like that CMU is strong in both disciplines, but I know I would not perform well on the required SAT Subject Tests and so I’ve made the decision to take them under no circumstances.

Help anyone?

To double major in HCII, you typically apply in spring of sophomore year. It is possible to apply spring of freshman year, to be guaranteed admission when people are officially admitted a year later. Not everyone is accepted to the major; the application consists of a statement about why you want to pursue HCII, a proposed schedule until graduation to show that you can take all the courses you need, and your (college) transcript. You won’t need SATs, since your primary major would be art and that’s what you will be applying for in freshman admission.

Thanks for the info. Is it competitive getting accepted to the major?

it is as competitive to get into HCI as it is to get into CMU. It is a multidisciplinary major. CMU excells in this type approach of art/humanities+engineering+business.
