To the lucky guys that did get it , did you have special situations??? I 'm just curious, I was told production wouldn’t admit anyone until March? But I am delighted for you…

billybobtt- Students are admitted early if they are being offered merit scholarships. This early admission spans across all schools, including cinematic arts. The majority of students will still be admitted in March.

Wishing you luck!

Thank you film walker, I have renewed hope. You must have had an awesome film…

@filmwalker, does seem like that there are quite a few girls applying for film and production this year just by scrolling through some of the visual samples submitted. Do you think the SCA admission deans would take gender into consider as well actually?Considering that there are usually more guys applying for film and production compared to girls and I’m assuming that they would want to keep the male/female ratio pretty even. Also, congratulations on your acceptance into SCA!!

I’m a girl. So me + filmwalker= 2 girls in production

Third girl here. :)

billybobtt-You’re welcome! Remember, USC reviews application holistically.

coffeebeann- You will not get an accurate idea of the people who applied by scrolling through YouTube. Many videos don’t have “visual sample” in their title. They could also be hidden, posted on vimeo, etc… Overall, there are more guys who apply than girls who apply. Schools attempt to have diversity, whether it be gender, race, or other. In this case, being a girl puts you in the minority. Therefore, you have an advantage. Not a distinct advantage, mind you, but an advantage all the same.

Thanks and good luck to both of you!

I’'m sorry Filmwalker, what do you mean by holistically?

billybobtt,
USC reviews applications holistically, which means they look at applications thoroughly. They look at all components of one’s application, such as test scores, gpa, extracurriculars, recommendations, essays, supplements, etc. They don’t have any specific “eligibility requirement”. EVERYTHING is considered.

Thank you, Curious, if I’m not prying, what were your PSAT and SAT scores?

billybobtt- I don’t really want to give specifics, but my scores are high.

Understood, I applaud your accomplishment and hopefully will meet you in the fall…

Has anyone heard of any people admitted to Digital Arts? There weren’t any on the stats page, but I know not everyone posted their stats.

I’d love to know, too, Smother!

Partially to see portfolios, as that’s my best chance of getting in. :P

Have you gotten acceptances at other schools yet for digital arts? My daughter got into Chapman, but USC is her first choice.

Nah, I was deferred from Chapman, so I’ll find out in late March.

Did your daughter apply to CalArts? I was too scared to.

No, we were pretty intimidated by all their requirements. Her art teacher is in the animation business and he doesn’t like Cal Arts. Also, there is nothing to do in Valencia and she wanted to meet people in other majors, not just visual and performing arts. Did you try Loyola Marymount? We are still waiting on San Jose State which has a good reputation too. She prefers Chapman to both of these. She loved the campus and the fact that it is so close to Disneyland and they actually offered her money.

Yeah, the whole sketchbook held me off, haha. And yes, I agree about the “variety” thing - having to spend all of my time with artists sounds exhausting. We’re such a dramatic bunch, heh.

I didn’t apply to Loyola, though I considered it. Besides USC and Chapman, I applied to a couple state schools.

The Disneyland thing is what hooked me into Chapman too! I’d love to meet your daughter - seems like we have very similar mindsets.

Hopefully you will meet on your first day of class at USC!

Yes, hopefully!
Best of luck to both of you.
