School of Cinematic Arts Applicants (Film and TV)

NewEyecon:
Do you have any comments or criticism for my video? I would appreciate any comments
I definitely hope that you’ll get in, and I hope we could collaborate if I we both get in. It seems we have similar mindsets in terms of mood and tone of story.

Just watched your video and I really enjoyed it! It definitely had a similar tone and theme to mine which was cool to see. I’m a huge fan of filming at dusk and night and I think you did a really good job as far as colors and locations, particularly on top of the parking structure (I was actually planning on using a parking structure before I found the Ferris Wheel). I loved the symmetrical shots where the camera pulled away from the bedroom door and with the car coming down the street, both were really cinematic and worked perfectly with the sound overlay. The one thing you did that I wish I had done was character to character dialogue, I find that much tougher than a simple monologue. Great job on your film. Hopefully we both get in as I’m most excited to find people who share the same excitement for film making to collaborate with!

NewEyecon,
Thanks it means a lot to me. Dialogue is so difficult to write and I feel there was some dialogue that didn’t seem believable in my visual sample. This was my first short film though and I do think I did a good job, but I do feel like there is so much that I could have done better. I truly admire your short film and I can tell you’re experienced. Hopefully if we both get in we’ll be able to collaborate as soon as possible. Do you mind sharing your stats with us?
