School of Cinematic Arts Hopefuls-Class of 2014

Which state do you guys live in? (trying to figure out if it’s just a coincidence no one in ny has received packet yet)

I’m about 60 min from campus so…

I’m in Texas. And I applied to Crit studies.

So happy guys. Good luck to all who await a decision.

@DreamingFIlms Congrats! That’s amazing, I know how much you wanted this. Couldn’t be happier.

@veritasrmc Congrats to you too!

@LayraSparks , I know how much you want this too! Hopefully we both end up among the entering class. Please do keep me updated and I’m here to answer any questions, everyone.

did anyone got notified by USC connect that they are not awarded for a scholarship?
I haven’t received anything yet. (I am an international student) Nothing on USC connect has changed since I applied on dec 1e.

My son has a letter posted on USC connect saying he did not win a scholarship and he received an email as well.

Okay thank you so much! I think I encountered a technical issue

Can somebody clarify some things for me? How does the admissions process work? Is it like passing through a series of gates? Do you have to be accepted as a general student first and then your application goes onto Cinematic Arts? Or, does the School of Cinematic Arts and Undergraduate Admissions review your application simultaneously? Do you guys see what I am trying to say?

@Ianbernas
For film, both your admissions counselor, whoever that may be, and the school to which you are applying look at the application. Sometimes, students who fall below general academic standards and are not “passed” by the admissions office and are fought for by the school and the same can happen vice versa, or so I have heard.

Hi all! Are you mostly BFA students? I am MFA for production and just had my interview last pm. Anyone else know if they interview most, some or til the list of admitted is full? Fyi I also applied to Screenwriting and Peter Stark Producing, so I am guessing Production is my only shot? Anyone know?

Congrats, Dreaminginfilms. Very happy for you! :)

S14 got a voicemail today to call back for a phone interview. Is this common? I’d like to take it as a good sign, but don’t want to read too much into it. Anyone else get a call?

No call here. I would think that’s a good sign! Fingers crossed!

Yeah I got a call as well. From what I was able to gather from the interview - it is a good sign, but it is by no means a signal for admittance. I think SCA applicants have to pass through gen admissions as well. In other words its just an interview, nothing more.

Just got back from an interview with the production division…scariest 30 mins of my life!

@veritasrmc How did it go? :slight_smile:

@my2sonsfromca and @understated
I got a call too! Was so thrown off because I didn’t know SCA gave undergraduate interviews. The professor who called said they were calling a shortlist of applicants to get a better feel of who they were, so I would definitely say it’s a good sign (but obviously it’s not a guarantee of admission).

I did a bit of research on the forums to see if this was an actual thing, and apparently many of the people in previous years who have gotten a phone call have gotten in. That said, many who have not received phone calls have also gotten in so don’t freak out if you haven’t gotten one yet.
Fingers crossed for everyone though…four more weeks of waiting… :/

My D didn’t get a call and was accepted. So who knows. How nerve wracking, though. I wonder if people have gotten a call and NOT gotten in?

Has everyone who has gotten a call been a freshman applicant?
