School Spirit at Cornell?

How is the school spirit/pride at cornell? As in the attendance to various sporting events and how happy people are to be there?

If amount of school-name sweatshirts, etc is any indication then spirit seems quite strong.

Nearly 40% of the class was admitted ED, my guess is those people are pretty happy to be there. And that’s a lot of people.

In my day, there were some who initially smarted about their rejection from Harvard or MIT, or whatever, but they were in the minority and that didn’t last long.

Attendance at sporting events correlated closely with how good the teams were at the time. They were seriously out for hockey. (But the hockey team was good).

“Happy to be there” correlated most closely with level of academic success and social life.

The school is very diverse. There are plenty of “rah-rah” types who are into sports. But there are also lots of nerdy types, and those with different interests, who could care less about sports. But still may be happy to be there, nevertheless.
