School spirit / Traditions at Brandeis?

Is there a lot of school spirit at Brandeis?
In addition, are there any fun or interesting traditions at Brandeis besides the Liquid Latex (can someone also expand on this in specifics? like who, when, where, why?) and Bronstein Week?

Brandeis is not a Rah Rah football kind of a place. The students there find joy in the clubs that they participate in and with the friends that they make. They try new things and keep active. I know that Debate club and the theatre group are 2 very busy things to do. The Academics at this school are stellar.

I would say that Brandeis is more about character than traditions, and this is also an expression of school spirit. We do have a few annual events - Bronstein Week in the spring and Louis Louis Week in the fall, as well as Springfest (which is AWESOME), Pachanga (the biggest party of the year), SCRAM Jam (a party in the art galleries) and the shows put on by clubs, such as Mela, Culture X, the drag show (always amazing), and Liquid Latex (which is basically naked students painted in latex paint dancing…). We are still a young school, so “traditions” are somewhat untested and some don’t stick, but those are some of the ones which have.

But like I said, there’s a very strong Brandeis character and culture which pervades everything we do. We’ll say that something is “so Brandeis” or “so Brandeisian.” People here don’t really go out and support our sports teams, but they do come to see the shows and performances, support their friends’ club’s events, and in general have a lot of Brandeis pride and a strong Brandeis identity.

So to answer your question, the traditions here aren’t quite as rich or old as you might find elsewhere, but yes, I would say we have a lot of school spirit!
