School Suggestions for Intl Student

Hi,

I am a Canadian student who is not an American resident. However, my parents have already applied for American citizenship and are waiting for an interview date so that means then I would need to go to school in the states next year, otherwise, I wouldn’t be worrying so much about choosing a school.

I’m not familiar with the school in the States so I need some suggestions. I’m choosing to go to school in either near California, Seattle, New York, or Chicago.

My Stats:
SAT Math: 540
SAT Writing: 520
SAT CR: 490
GPA: 3.2 Unweighted

My school does not offer any AP’s and I will be taking Math lvl2 and Physics subject tests in December.

I know these stats are not very good but I have a strong list of EC’s. My dream school was UCLA, but considering these stats, I don’t think I would get in. My second choice would be University of Washington but I think it will be a major reach for me. I’d also like to major in computer science/engineering since I have a strong passion in that field. And most of my EC’s have something to do with web programming.

I used PR’s Counselor-O-Matic, and some safety schools that I knew of for me were:
1.) University of Illinois at Chicago
2.) CUNY
Reaches:
1.) University of San Francisco
2.) SUNY Buffalo
Good Matches:
1.) DePaul University
2.) CUNY

I don’t know how accurate the tool is so that is why I am looking for some suggestions from human beings.

Thanks.

I don’t know a lot about all of them, but DePaul and SUNY Buffalo are good suggestions. Also, take a look at SUNY Buffalo State (different from the other Buffalo) and Canisius. Canisius is also located in Buffalo and offers programs in Computer Science. Buffalo State offers programs in Computer science and engineering. Another school you could take a look at is Pace located in Pleasantville NY (not to far from NYC). The school has easy access to the city with a train station nearby. Pace offers programs in Computer Science. There are also 2 schools near the Chicago area that you may want to look at- Elmhurst and Aurora. Both offer Computer Science programs. You can probably get into Chicago fairly quickly.
