OK, so here’s the deal. I have a few B+'s and most of my A’s are A / A-'s, and rarely A+'s. What schools can I get into with these grades? I’ve takes advanced classes every year (5 honors freshman year, 5 honors sophmore year; 4 honors, 3 AP’s junior year and lots of dual credit), considering everything else is (very) good (great AP scores, great ec’s, great test scores, good awards). And I’m black!

Because I realize that my grades aren’t quite competitive enough for Ivies, but I know there must be something for me beyond state school?

Um, you are definitely qualified for Ivies. Don’t let the crap on this site discourage you.

I’ve found that UPenn really likes minorities. (I’m assuming this is your dream school due to your username.) I’d say shoot for a few ivies, but look into a few other colleges as well. There are also many really good LAC’s. Since they are smaller schools that receive less applications, they may overlook your B’s if you come off strong with good extra curric’s and a good interview. Despite your B’s, you still have a strong transcript, seeing as you took so many honors/AP courses.
