Schools for a pop vocalist?

I’m a singer, not currently in choir because I like to do my own thing. Are there any schools out there that have this type of program?

There have been other threads on this topic (pop/rock vocals); if you use the SEARCH feature, you should be able to access them.

There are a relatively small number of schools for contemporary music. Notable ones discussed on this forum include Berklee, USC Thornton, Belmont, Denver Lamont, New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music, and Columbia College Chicago.

You say that choir is not your thing. However you will be required to participate in large and small ensembles if you major in a performance program. Each program may have slightly different requirements.

Hopefully you are currently studying with a private voice teacher and are taking piano lessons. All serious programs will expect that you have music training and can sight sing. Check out audition requirements at any of these institutions.
