Schools like Bard?

I’m currently a junior at a rigorous public high school in Pennsylvania. If I could get into Bard, I would go in a heartbeat… but I’m not sure I have the grades for it. I’m looking for schools that are similar, but maybe somewhat less selective. Preferably in the mid-atlantic area.

My GPA is just shy of a 4.0 (on a 5.0 scale). My freshman year was beyond disastrous, but since then I’ve taken almost all honors/AP classes and done quite well in them. So my transcript isn’t continually impressive, but there’s an obvious trend of improvement.

I’m the president of my school’s Gay/Straight Alliance and a member of the Anti-Defamation League. I’m also an art student, a member of the National Art Honor Society, and I’ll graduate with four years of studio classes (and a complete portfolio, although I’m not interested in pursuing art as a career).

Small liberal arts colleges I like:
Bard (first choice)
Eugene Lang @ The New School
Sarah Lawrence
Goucher

And I would consider larger schools as well. Emphasis on humanities, social sciences, writing, and visual arts.
