Schools that don’t publish that they have rolling admissions

I am finding out that some schools offer rolling admissions but don’t publish this fact: eg. U Minnesota Twin Cites. I’m not talking about ASU or Alabama which are both open about rolling admissions. Any other schools out there that do this?

I’m a bit confused about what you mean by “don’t publish this fact.”

From the U Minnesota Twin Cities’ own website: “The University of Minnesota sends admission decisions on a rolling basis beginning in the fall.”

Here is a 3rd party source that lists all schools with rolling admissions:

Always treat anything published by prepscholar with caution. They often have outdated or downright incorrect information on a variety of topics.

It’s best to check each school’s website.

I think one we weren’t quite clear on after reading the website that did turn out to be rolling admissions was Michigan State. We did check their website (really, my S25 did) and he thought it was only rolling admissions after the regular deadline if they still had space. But he was admitted a few weeks after applying, so clearly either he misread it or it just confusingly worded.

Weird. I have this: EA1 11/1, decision by Jan 31 or EA2 12/1 decision by Feb 15. MN app dates/notification

Susquehanna doesn’t advertise as rolling admissions, in fact they say EA1 will notify Dec 1 your results. My D applied and 3 days later was admitted. She did a full day visit meeting with department director and had a music lesson so that could have sped things up. I have seen other students post they were admitted already as well.

I would love to know this too. My S applied to SUNY New Paltz, which says it will notify in January. S was accepted last week.

UNC Charlotte and maybe App State…trying to remember, but I think both released bit by bit before their published date, with no rhyme or reason as to how they did so.

I don’t think App State is rolling. My older child is there. She got her notice at the same time as everyone else that applied EA. They did release a few days before their stated release date, however.

I note there are a variety of colleges which sometimes send out Likely Letters, or similar. They may not be quite the same as a formal offer, but they serve the same purpose of jumping ahead of the official notification date for applicants they particularly want.

Many schools say they’ll announce results “by” a particular date, but often release them a few days earlier. IMO that’s not rolling admissions. “Rolling” = decisions are released on a continuous, ongoing basis until seats are filled.

Also not the definition of a rolling admissions school.

Absolutely.

As I understand it, some people have been surprised to get an offer quickly after applying even though the college did not promise to do rolling admissions. As you correctly noted, this is not necessarily rolling admissions.

I was just noting that some schools also do these Likely Letters and such. I was noting this because this is an example of how some schools would selectively notify some applicants early of an intent to admit, presumably for strategic yield reasons.

I just think that supports the observation that colleges might well give out some select offers sooner than others, without actually doing rolling admissions generally.

We had the same understanding/perspective that UofM had an early action date. We were surprised when he received an acceptance notification this week. I went back to the website and found the “rolling admissions” information was tucked away/smaller than the larger EA deadline info etc. Net/ you are not crazy

Charlotte did not roll out all decisions at once. They came to people over several weeks time, so I would consider them rolling. Some (many) people got them before the EA deadline.
