Schools to consider? T14 possible?

Hi guys,

I’m pretty young and trying to graduate in three years. Because of health insurance issues in which I can’t be covered by my father’s policy, I’m trying to apply to law school this fall. Quite evidently, the lack of experience, as well as having only fully completed 4 full semesters so far, will be my biggest handicap. I’m wondering which schools it would be prudent to apply to, especially because I’m paying all the application fees myself.

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
GPA: 3.95
Major: Political Science
Involved in: Student coordinator at South Quad dining hall.
Kappa Omega Alpha pre-law fraternity member.
Spectrum Center student advisory board.
This fall I will be a senior editor of Southeast Asia for the Michigan Journal of Asian Studies, which is a new publication starting this year.
Possibly related experience: Unpaid internship in Canadian Parliament from May 2011-June 2011 for course credit. I will be getting a letter of recommendation from the office I was in.

I haven’t taken the LSAT yet, but I took some practice tests and, in order, they were 168, 171, and 175.

I’m pretty sure schools like Notre Dame and William and Mary would be pretty happy to accept me, but I’m wondering what T14 schools I should take a shot at. University of Michigan is one of them, for sure.

Thanks everyone!!

If you do get a 175+ on the LSAT, take a shot at Harvard, NYU, and Yale. Honestly, you have an excellent chance at those schools…

Have you heard of the Wolverine Scholars program? You’re definitely qualified for it, plus I think they waive the application fee for you to apply.

Otherwise, I agree with Samonuh that if you do get 175+ you’d be competitive at HYS.

If you score below 168 on the LSAT, ED’ing at UVA is your best bet. Until you have a real LSAT score in your hands, it’s all a guessing game. I have no idea what practice tests you took, if they are recent ones, that’s probably a better indicator. There are some of the 20ish practice LSATs that were significantly easier than recent ones.
