I was thinking, do some schools have a slightly lower admission rate because it’s a well-known school sports-wise. I can imagine some unlikely candidates applying to Duke because it’s a well-known basketball school and that gives people an opportunity to have them as a favorite team and maybe a college choice…

So are schools with good D1 programs admissions statistics a lot different than a school like MIT where if you are a jock, you probably won’t apply at all?

Not sure what you are asking.

Are you asking if D1 “big sports” schools get more apps because those schools are also attracting big “student sports fans”?

Are you asking if D1 “big sports” schools may have a lower score range to include athletes and “student sport fans”?

Well like you said, there are schools like Duke which aren’t easy to get into regardless of whether you’re into them and theres also Georgetown.

People know about Duke because of the national name recognition… a lot of this comes from sports I assume

So does Duke get a lot of apps from all the recognition, which stems from sports. I would guess there is a lot of apps from students who may not even be in any hard classes, but the have heard of Duke and like Duke basketball…
