Schreyer Letters of Recommdendation

Hi everyone. I am a student in State College, PA and I would really like to get into Schreyer Honors College at PSU. Now, for the letters of recommendation from teachers, I am thinking about getting my French teacher and advanced accounting 1 teacher to write them for me (they both know me well). However, from what I’ve read online, it seems to be better if I find teachers in core classes to write them for me. Would it be a good idea to get my French teacher and accounting teacher to write them for me? Thanks so much.

P.S. I think foreign language might count as a core class but not accounting.

D2 starts her first year in the Schreyer Honors College next week. She used her State High AP French teacher and I think her BC Calculus teacher for letters of recommdendation. There was some concern since it had been a couple of years since she had calculus. Everything apparently worked out.

My son will also be starting next week in Schreyer. He had his Calculus teacher and his band director write letters for him.

D2 moves in to Schreyer Honors College next week as well. Her letters of recommendation came from her calculus teacher and her junior year art teacher. She’s going in as an architecture major, so for her, she considered her art teacher to be an important reference. I guess it worked.

thanks everyone. Now I think I will have my French and Prelcac teachers write them for me. I plan to go on a pre-med track so I think a recommendation from an accounting teacher might not help as much. I guess the “best” teahcers to write the recommendation letters would differ depending on one’s major.

I really think the “best” teachers are the ones who know you best, preferably in and out of the classroom.

My son is in ENGR - but chose his band director over his AP Physics teacher because he felt the band director had a better “feel” for him as both a student and an individual.

oh ok I see. thanks Grcxx3.
