Science Jargon in SAT Essay

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on whether an abundance of science terminology would be appropriate for the SAT essay (if the topic of scientific research fits the essay prompt) or not. Would the graders be impressed even if they don’t know the science jargon? Thanks in advance!

To some extent I guess, but they should still be able to clearly understand what you are trying to say (i.e. your essay shouldn’t be completely filled with scientific terminology)

Uh, I don’t see how that would help the essay, the topics are usually pretty broad. Did you get a specific topic or something that made you think of this?

I would steer clear of that. I think most essay graders would be put off by a bunch of scientific jargon.

Thanks for your opinions! As an example, if the prompt were to ask: “Is the world becoming a better place?”, I was thinking about describing a specific discovery/innovation in research. Would it be worth it to use some advanced terminology from a specific experiment that I want to write about?

You should never use jargon (scientific or not) in an sat essay. Be straightforward and clear - don’t try to impress people with big words.
