This is what my schedule as come down to; what should I do? The class at Yale college will be a class that I’m interested in and reflects my ECs. I have already secured a mentor and will be conducting research on my own time and competing with it, so I don’t really have a reason to continue SR. The only problem is that I have had SR for the past two years and suddenly dropping it might seem a little weird. What do you guys think?

Dropping it won’t seem weird if they see that you’re taking a class at Yale in its place.

Sorry to bump this up, up I’m meeting my GC tomorrow, so I want more opinions. I can either sign up for SR and not take the classes at Yale or take a free period and, two days a week, go to Yale for a class. If I take the free period though will it look like I’m slacking?

The free period doesn’t look like slacking because you have the period to attend a college course twice a week! You can always perform research outside the realms of school, or just take lots of science classes. It doesn’t seem weird to drop it because you’re making room for another opportunity, which happens. You’re under no unofficial obligation to continue with research for college admissions; they will understand that you followed the best path for your education.
