Science Research or Science Study Competitions

Hello,

I was wondering what looks better on college applications and what is more feasible: doing science research at a lab and doing competitions like Google Science Fair and Intel, or if doing study competitions such as Biology Olympiad or Brain Bee.

First, don’t pick activities based on what ‘looks better’ for college admission. Pick activities that interest you. Second, different schools may emphasize one thing over the other so it depends on the school.

If you are interested in doing research then do research. Search and find schools that put an emphasis on research and you’d probably be happier attending them than schools that didn’t. Same thing goes for academic competitions like Science Olympiads.
