Science ?

I want to major in foreign languages and journalism. Therefore, I don’t want to take a science class for senior year but I’d only have 2 science classes and I don’t want that to make me less competitive, I’m planning to take Ap eng, ap gov, ap calc, beginning guitar, concert band, and intro to modern journalism. so what should I do?

  • I’m highly interested in music

Most high schools require at least three years of science for graduation. So make certain that you will indeed meet the requirements for your school.

Most colleges and universities expect at least three years of science. What courses are offered at your high school? Do they offer anything other than bio, chem, and physics?

Drop either beginning guitar or concert band for a science course. If you love music too much for that, take an online science course through a virtual school.

Look at the requirements for HS graduation. Look at the recommendations/requirements for any college you are considering applying to. If you don’t meet the recommended coursework your application will be at a disadvantage as schools get many many applications from students who have completed the recommendations. Also seek out the advice of your guidance counselor.

My guess is that it would make sense to drop one of the music classes and take a lab science. You can take guitar lessons outside of school.
