In high school, how hard is AP physics, AP bio and AP chem? I want to get into a good premedical school. What would be a good major for hopefully studying the brain as a neurosurgeon. I heard a biology degree is useless if you don’t get into med school?

You might consider neuroscience. You can major in neuroscience and take the necessary premed classes.

My understanding is that a bachelor’s degree in biology is going to require some form of graduate school. Medical school is not the only option. One thing to consider when picking a university for undergrad is that if you are going to major in either biology or neuroscience you are not going to be done in 4 years, and should budget accordingly (for example, try to avoid debt for undergrad).

This depends upon what you are good at, and what you have already studied. I have heard that physics is much easier if you take the version that uses (and therefore requires) calculus. Of course, this requires taking calculus first or at the same time (I took calculus as a co-requisite, meaning that you could take it at the same time and the professors were in cahoots, so that a technique would be taught in the calculus course and then used in physics a few days later). Personally I did take the version that required calculus, and loved it. I avoided the other two, but this will of course vary from student to student.
