I am applying to PSIA (International Public Management) at the moment and am nearly done with my application. If anyone else is going/has gone, I’d love to know a bit about your background, your application experience (interviews?) and if you can tell me my chances for admission and scholarship (Emile Boutmy):

B.A. from American in DC, Print Journalism and German/Minor in International Studies
GPA: 3.75
GRE: 730V 720Q 5AW

I studied abroad twice (one semester in Berlin, one in Turkey) and I speak German fluently and Turkish reasonably well. (I can talk to basically anyone about basically anything, but I still wouldn’t feel so comfortable using Turkish in a professional setting, for example.) I lived in Germany and Austria for a combined three years and I’m currently living and working in Turkey…I’ve been here for two years. After undergrad I did a Fulbright teaching assistantship in Austria, then worked at a small company in New York doing administrative stuff involving stamp and coin production for a year (weird job, but…the economy crashed) and am now back in Turkey working at a publishing and consulting firm, editing and occasionally writing economic analyses on developing and emerging economies. I’ve also had a bunch of other jobs, several in editing/writing for political publications.

Anyway…I would really like to get out of the corporate editing world (or at least this sort of company), and I would like this Master’s to help me change paths a bit. I am most interested in working for some of the programmes at the Open Society Institute/East-West Institute/the UN if I can make it happen, etc. I have made it obvious on my statement of purpose that I am very enthusiastic about learning French and either keeping up with my Turkish or possibly picking up Russian again. (I studied it years ago but it’s fallen by the wayside since.)

Anyway…what are my chances? Thanks for sharing your advice and experiences!
