scooter!

Does anyone ride one regularly? I see them more often these days. It seems convenient to get around in urban areas. I am not interested in a motorcycle but I would consider a vespa. Do you need a license if you already have a driver’s license?

Your DMV would regulate whether you need a license. You do need to check about state insurance regs for scooters and also be sure your auto policy provides the protection you want and should have with a scooter.

Personally, our Oahu drivers do not collaborate well with 2-wheeled vehicles, so it is mostly students and teen to 20+ year olds and tourists who use them around here.

I always wanted a pink vespa but too much traffic here.

Laws vary greatly from state to state. We went from needing nothing but a helmet to needing registration, insurance, a tag, inspection, and a special helmet with eye protection. Insurance ranged from $88/year (WV kid in school) to $147/year (24 year-old in NYC).

We had to go with Progressive, which is affiliated with USAA, since USAA doesn’t offer motorcycle or scooter insurance.
