I was wondering whether someone would be willing to grade my essay from a practice test so that I could have an objective score. You don’t have to dwell on the essay too much; just give it a quick read, a score, and feedback if you’d like.Thank you so much!
Prompt: Is uncertainty a sign of weakness or a path to personal growth?
In society, there is this preconcieved premis that uncertainty is a sign of inconfidence and weakness. Because of this, many important leaders and ordinary people put up facades to make their uncertainty so that they may appear confident and powerful, despite that this could lead to decisions founded upon imprudence. What proponents of this idea fail to realize is that uncertainty is universal and that is only through embracing such uncertainty that people can make rational decisions and personally grow.
In my studies of literature, my proposition has become more prevalent. In the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck, the protagonist, is the victim of uncertainty. He is constantly bombarded with conflicting view points on slavery and is unsure whether he should save Jim, an escaped slave, or not. Huck shows how embracing uncertainty has helped him to personally grow. On the way to Cairo, Huck almost turns in Jim as an escaped slave but restricts himself as he is still uncertain whether helping Jim was the right thing to do. Because of this uncertainty, Huck did not make and imprudent decision and learned to reason each dilemma he faced, something which he had not done before. It was only through his uncertainty that he was able to develop a camaraderie with Jim and learn to reason out all of his choices.
In history, too, this proposition is supported. In WW1, when the archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was assassinated, Germany, Serbia, Russia, and Austria-Hungary immediately declared war. Instead of playing on uncertainty and carefully reasoning out the possible ramifications, they acted on imprudence and started and unnecessary was. Had they embraced uncertainty, WW1 could have easily been prevented or carried out on a much smaller scale. They wanted to show superiority, power, and confident instead of growth.
Thus, it has become increasingly clear that uncertainty is essential in developing a sense of judgement and is far from a weakness. It is often through uncertainty that people become more superior that those who ostracize it.
