I have a big problem. ED deadlines are Nov. 1 and Nov. 5 for one school I’m applying early to.
Columbia, MIT, Caltech, and UMich are the four school. I literally just ordered the score reports for these schools (11 PM October 28th) and Columbia I think I am fine with because they accept post-November scores. But I don’t know for the other 4! Umich seems really strict saying that if they don’t receive it you’re done. help!!!
thanks so much!

On the College Board site, find where it says “View Sent Scores.” It should say whether they sent paper or electronic copies. It’s electronic for most schools but might be paper for some schools.

You should be fine with MIT. They allow for use of the November test date, and obviously they won’t be available for several weeks.

Caltech early action requires testing to be completed by October, and they already have the scores of anyone who requested the score report with their tests. You might be cutting it close with them.

Michigan doesn’t seem to list which test dates are acceptable, but says they must receive test scores by the 1st. You might be cutting it close with them as well.

In both of those cases, they might allow some leeway for test scores (but don’t count on it). If you miss the deadline, you will end up in the RD pool, and have to wait for your decision.

I assume you mean you are applying binding ED to Columbia and non-binding EA to other three. All you list are electronic delivery but you cannot assume it will actually be sent by Nov 1. It takes time for ACT to process a request and that can be up to a week and thus check site to see when scores are actually sent. You are fine with Caltech (which accepts through Oct tests but they can arrive after Nov 1), Columbia and MIT (both accept November tests). Michigan is the only questionable one which actually requires the scores to be in its hands by Nov 1 (and for that reason it says the October ACT is too late for EA but Oct SAT is as long as you designate Mich as a recipient college in your test application, which is the fastest form of delivery). Possibly you will be OK but even if not it does not mean much. Mich is actually a rolling admissions school and thus sends out decisions as applications are received, except it does not start sending out decisions before early Dec. Applying EA simply guarantees you will receive some decision by mid-Dec, either admit, deny or defer to later decision. If you apply after Nov 1 you are not guaranteed that mid-Dec notice but you could receive decision any time after Dec 1 (and in fact there are those who apply in early Nov after the EA date who actually get decisions before EA applicants do).

I am on the same boat and thank you for your info about Umich. Are you sure about their policies on the admissions and decisions sending?
