score shifts from one test to the next; where will i (we?) end up?

I got a 225 on my psat. I had taken 5 or 6 practice tests (sats and psats) before the official one. Each score increased, but only by a little bit each time. I was prepping the entire time that I was periodically taking practice tests.

my scores went something like this
august (before junior year, and before any sort of prep): ~1900 (700 cr 60 m, wr)
september: ~ 2000 (700 cr, 600 m, 700 wr)
october: ~2150 (800 cr, 650 m, 750 wr)
official test: 2250 (74 cr 73 m 78 wr)

is this prototypical? does it look like i have flattened out at a top score? are peoples SAT scores usually higher or lower than their PSATs? I know no one has the “answers” to these questions, but any sort of anecdotal evidence is appreciated just because i’m a little worried about my scores actually DROPPING - i’m not that worked up about increasing my score from a 225(0).

There is no real “flattening out” at a top score. Once you’re at the point where you’re scoring 2250+, the difference between the highest scores is minuscule. For example missing 3 questions on reading often brings down one from an 800 to a 770, a 30 point difference based on one question.

Also, for anecdotal proof, here are my scores:
Sophomore PSAT: 175 (54CR/62M/59W)
Junior Year January SAT: 2060 (680CR/770M/610W)
Junior Year PSAT: 219 (70CR/79M/70W)
Junior Year March SAT: 2230 (730CR/770M/730W)
Senior Year November SAT: 2360 (800CR/800M/760W)

EDIT: I should add that I am lucky that I always showed a score progression each time I took the SAT, but this is not always the case with some people.
