I went over the Barron Study Guide and still do terrible on practice tests.

1,000 is very low but then again Barrons is notorious for being difficult. Buy the Collegeboard’s SAT study guide 2nd edition ($20) and take a practice test from there. Once you finish a test, go online and plug in all your answers and see what you get. Best of luck.

As Entric said, try the Collegeboard book - don’t lose hope yet :)

But isn’t it good to be over prepared?

Barron’s is difficult in the sense that it’s ridiculously tricky. The SAT is a very straightforward exam and Barron’s doesn’t make it that way, and it can mess you up with CR and W.

Do the Collegeboard book or you may have a skewed impression of the real test, and not exactly in a good way.

Math is another story - do as many problems as you can from any book for math.

Overpreparation may work for some tests, but it usually isn’t the best strategy for the SAT, especially in Critical Reading because it is very hard to try to replicate those questions.
