I just submitted applications to Colgate and Middlebury through the Coalition App, and in the portals both schools showed specific ACT test dates that I didn’t submit. They’re nowhere in my pdf file version of the application, and I’ve never input them into Scoir. How did these colleges get information I never submitted? My high school utilizes Schoolinks for certain documents they have to submit, but it didn’t submit one of the test scores that’s on there, and I don’t think they’re linked up??? I have no idea what’s happening.
I see your post is a month old, but I wish someone would answer if they know. I often worry that test optional/test choice policies do not work flawlessly for students because of similar situations - and these are helpful for people to understand. I have even seen policies where high schools put test scores on an official transcript, regardless of whether they are chosen to be sent.
@Mwfan1921 anything on this?
I’m not sure.
OP should talk with their HS counselor, maybe test scores are somehow sent from the HS with the school report or transcript?
OP, when you registered for your tests, did you send any of the allowed free score sends to colleges?
If you applied TO and the scores are in your portals, you can reach out to each school’s admissions dept and/or your specific AO. Tell them you applied TO and aren’t sure how the scores got into your portal, but that you want to stay as a TO applicant.
Update! So, I reached out to my counselor, my school doesn’t send scores, and I’ve never selected any schools for free score sends. Middlebury says that they came from the Coalition App, so I talked to Coalition App’s customer support. After a lot of sending screenshots back and forth, they insisted that they couldn’t be the one sending all of those extra scores, so I kind of hit a wall.
I decided to submit an application as a sacrificial lamb, and if I chose not to superscore, they only got the one score. So, there wasn’t really a solution, but I figured out how to sidestep it I guess.
It’s still ok to reach out to the colleges where you applied TO and tell them you don’t know how the test scores got in your app. Tell them you wish to remain TO and ask them to remove the score from your record/application .
Good luck!
I’m actually not a test optional applicant, so unfortunately I’m stuck with them seeing my lackluster scores alongside my good ones. It’s a shame, but c’est la vie!
I wouldn’t worry about that! IME many, maybe most schools, will look at the highest score and move on. Good luck.
