Scout applying for a student?

My cousin is a smart guy, lazy, but smart. He says that he graduated from “one of the highest and most well regarded private schools in the country.” He is twenty-two now, but he says that when he graduated high school that he was accepted into Stanford.

R-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght.

He says that he didn’t go because he didn’t want to go (he didn’t go to college period,) and that the only reason he was accepted was because a Stanford scout or alumnus applied for him.

Double r-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght.

My B.S. detector went off right away. Is this even possible? Has this ever happened before. Some clarification would be nice.

Please and thank you.

This is an interesting idea, even for those not applying to Stanford. So could someone with good knowledge of Stanford and the admissions system please be kind enough to answer this for me?

Seeing as though a social security number is required to apply, I doubt someone could apply without his knowledge/consent. Also, I am a current student and I have never heard of a Stanford scout and I have never heard of Stanford sending out an acceptance without some one applying.

My bs detector is matching yours, unless your cousin is some kind of super genius that is far beyond anyone I have ever met here at Stanford, this is almost certainly a lie.

^Social security number is optional.

^I stand corrected.

Something else I forgot to mention, the essays, how on earth would they deal with those?

This may sound crazy but my aunt knows someone who only applied to Harvard but was rejected. She goes to Stanford now because Harvard referred her to Stanford and Stanford offered her admissions. Has anyone heard anything like this before?

^ That sounds like some BS to me too! For one thing no matter how much of a genius someone is I don’t think Stanford would condone a scout or alumni applying for a lazy person who didn’t even WANT to go to Stanford. I mean honestly there are 30,000+ applicants who actually spent the time applying so its not like Stanford needs to recruit as heavily as other schools

@ arrrrrr story, How would Harvard know that the person only applied to Harvard? So the person got denied in april and was somehow accepted to Stanford? Sorry for being a skeptic and rude, but that person must have been pretty stupid to only apply to harvard and actually want to go to college.

Yeah. No worries. I know exactly what you mean. She also applied to our state school as a safety. It sounds extremely ridiculous. I still don’t really believe it. But I know for sure that the person goes to Stanford. The other details are just what I heard.
