Screamo/Hardcore/Death Metal

I’ve always wondered, do the artists do the all the screams, or are they voice edited? Especially those raw ones. And you know in death metally music where there’s that evil low devil-sounding voice (i know firewalker knows what I’m talking about :)) Is that computerized? Or voiceboxed? And if so, how do they create in during the live show?

well in many screamo and hardcore bands the screaming is authentic, though perhaps modified in a studio. if you go to one of their shows they will scream live.

however, with death metal and grindcore, which have more guttural screaming, growling and grunting, the sound is usually modified to sound lower and more ‘evil sounding’ in a studio. i’ve never been to a grindcore show bc i think that **** is terrible, so i dunno how they do it live.

i mean damn, just listen to this crap: http://myspace.com/suicidesilence

Thanks! Great answer!

Did you just say metally?

death metal is definetly edited, for that evil effect.
Screamo and Hardcore are usally the real deal. Atleast with one band (The Blackout) … they were opening for Lostprophets and their… ‘scream guy’ ? Sounded pretty good.
