screwed over for housing

well i’m a spring admit who got bumped to the fall
i put in decent housing choices but got stuck with trojan hall

is it really all that bad?
would petitioning for a change help me choose something better?

It doesn’t matter in the slightest. I was in Trojan my freshman year. It’s the Dean’s Hall, but just as many non-Dean’s Hall people are in it as Dean’s people. Just be active and meet people from other dorms as well. You can pick roommates for sophomore year. To be honest, I’m friends with more people I met later on than I am from freshman year, though I still run into people occasionally and we say hi. Ignore all the crap about the “cool” dorms or crap that like, it’s really what you make of it and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Definitely agreed, with the addendum that the dorms that have air conditioning are far superior to those that don’t have air conditioning.

The problem is that the only dorms with AC are the Parkside ones and talking to some of my friends that had lived there, they are far less social (for freshman at least) than the other dorms since it’s suite style with both upper and lower classmen mixed together. Honestly, the heat isn’t too bad except at the very beginning and the very end. Keeping your window open and the door open when you’re in the room usually gets a pretty good breeze going and it cools down plenty at night. Just take a couple fans and you’ll be fine.

I’ll be honest dude. Trojan hall is crappy for freshman year. I mean at the end of the day it comes down to how social you are in meeting people and getting out there, but lets say someone who lives in New North compared to someone in Trojan Hall, then someone in new north will automatically have more of a social life then you will just because that’s where the majority of freshman are. It comes down to you though and getting involved, but if you could reassign it wouldnt be the worst thing
