Screwed up Major.

I applied to the University of Connecticut in order to a receive a degree in Chemical Engineering, and thats what was listed on my application, but when checking my status online, my major was changed to just Chemistry, and the school I was set to attend was the Liberal Arts school rather than the School of Engineering. I called UCONN today to try to fix it, but at this point, they said, the admission decision was probably already made, so its impossible for me to change over. Now I have no intention of not being an engineer, and my main concern now is that I may be unable to switch into chemical engineering later on in my schooling, because of how competitive uconn’s engineering program is. So, do I decide to stay at UCONN, where I may even have to stay an extra year in oder to make up for the “Foundations of Engineering” class I will not be able to attend because of my liberal arts label, or do i stick it out. I have been accepted to URI, as a chemical engineer major, but would prefer uconn. Any input?

Contact UConn Admissions and ask. It may be that you didn’t qualify for the engineering program so they accepted you for liberal arts. If that is the case it might be very difficult to do an internal transfer. Someone in the Admissions office would have the facts.
