Scripps is my first choice...

I am a high school senior at a small arts magnet school.
My gpa is 3.802 UW, and I’m 10/62 in my class (I wasn’t kidding when I said it was small!)

My main extracurricular is Irish dance, I’m at the highest competition level, have competed at Nationals, perform all around the community and assist teaching classes at my studio
I’m also…
-President of my school’s NHS, which includes about 50 members.
-Involved in vocal music (highest level choir, and I take private lessons as well); I’ve been to All-State Choir and have participated in Solo and Ensemble for four years
-Member of my school’s modern dance performing ensemble (by audition)
-Associated Student Body (Student Gov.) representative in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade
-Staff member of my school’s Literary Arts magazine (we publish two “lit mags” per year, with poetry and prose witten completely by students and faculty)
-Entering the NFAA youngARTS program (I’m entering in Irish dance), a national art competition for high school seniors
-I’m taking or have taken all 5 APs my school offers

The first time I took the SATs, I recieved 630 M & W, 760 CR
My new set of SAT scores will be in on Thursday! :)

I have visited Scripps and LOVED it, I’m also applying for the JES scholarship, because the one way to definitely NOT get it is by not applying :stuck_out_tongue:
I also have some family history w/ the CCs (my grandfather got his MA at CGU and is in the CGU Hall of Fame, and another relative was the first Pomona board of trustees member).

Also, I especially interested in the English and International Relations programs, and would like to minor in dance. I’m also really like science and am interested in the Scripps College Press!

Anyway… it’s kind of strange listing this all out, but I really just want to know how some of you Scrippsies think I will do in the admission process :P

Thanks!!!

Just a random fact:

http://www.scrippscollege.edu/media/magazine/dreamcatchers-elizabeth-gallagherDual</a>

The girl also happened to be a dual English/Politics major and a JES Scholar. So there’s definitely a niche that’s been left open ;)

I would say that your chances of admission seem quite good, but your chances at the JES scholarship are very slim. Numbers are a big factor and I believe that the average finalist SAT/1600 is 1500+. That said, your attitude is a good one…you can’t get what you don’t try for! Just be aware of your odds and don’t depend on the scholarship.

Were you able to interview when you came to campus?

Also, if you’re applying for JES, I assume you’re aware that the deadline is coming up on Nov 1 (scholarship deadline is separate from RD). Just making sure to put that out there.

Lastly, the girl I mentioned above is a friend of mine. She continued her dancing all through college (and now in grad school). I can try to put you in touch if you have any specific questions. Feel free to PM.

Good luck with admissions. Looks like any school will be lucky to have you :)

ETA: The link doesn’t seem to be working, but it brings you to roughly the right spot. Just scroll down the “Features” list on the right until you find “Dreamcatchers: Elizabeth Gallagher.”

Hahahaha, you won’t need to put me in touch with Liz, she’s one of my good friends! I had forgotten that she was a duel English and International Relations major… I knew she majored in one of them but I couldn’t remember which one. I’ve heard that both of those majors are really great at Scripps. Thanks for all the feedback, too. I know my chances for the JES are pretty slim, but I’m applying by Nov 1 anyway, so I might as well. Also- I was able to do an interview while visiting Scripps, I felt it went really well. The admissions officer was really nice, and I’ve emailed her with a few questions, too.
Thanks again! :)
