SDSU Admissions -- No Comparable Courses

Hello,

I am a student at University of Maryland University College and I have applied to SDSU for fall 2013. When I looked for my Major Preparation Requirements for Admission on SDSU’s TAP page, it listed UMUC as No Comparable Courses for all the requirements. I know for a fact that this can’t be right. So I checked for other majors and it listed the same thing for all majors. Does this mean that I have a slim chance of getting in because of this ‘No Comparable Courses’ issue? I also checked some SDSU GE courses and a few came up under the drop-down list. What should I do?

It most likely means that the UM courses are simply not in the SDSU computer for a comparison to be made and course match-up will need to be done manually when you apply. You should likely call SDSU and explain your issue. In any event, it is unlikely to have any adverse impact on admission.

Thank you! I will call them ASAP in the morning. I also have another question. My GPA is relatively low for a transfer student (mostly from my freshmen year at UMUC). I also went to a CC in California for about a year, but realized that I was going nowhere so I transferred back to UMUC. I am now doing pretty well in my classes. Will SDSU combine both GPAs or will they only use one when they are making their final decision? I’m hoping they do so it’ll make my GPA look a tad bit better. I should note that my GPA is above the general requirements for both admissions and my major requirements and I should be getting my AA from UMUC in a couple months (next term to be exact). Will having a degree help with admissions or not?

Anyone? :)
