SDSU Appeals 2019

Has anybody heard any news back yet?

@catsarelife8 not yet, still checking the portal each day to see if it changes. Hoping we hear back soon!

I already enrolled to transfer to SJSU but I just wish I could get a yes/no from SDSU about my appeal already.

I applied for an appeal for business at SDSU, noting that I will have my ADT from a local CC and all classes needed by end of spring. However, I failed BUS 140 which is needed by end of spring for both admissions and my ADT. I am now taking it this summer. Does anyone know what I can do besides tell them I’m currently taking it and hope for the best

I currently have a 2.71 gpa and am going to transfer by the end of spring semester of 2020. Any idea what the chances are for me. Btw my major is civil/mechanical engineer.

I called admissions in regards to an update on my appeal. I was told it was still in review because the admission team tries to look at every aspect before they make a yes-no decision, which I think is really important. I hope we all hear back soon. It should be by the end of this month! (:

@jkim00 I currently have a friend in that situation. He notified the admissions team, that’s all there is to really do. I know they wanted the classes to be completed by the end of spring. He hasn’t heard anything back from admissions and now it’s just kind of like a waiting game.

Sorry this was meant for @aaa777 !!!

Has anyone heard anything back on their appeals? We are way past the six week time frame that was suggested. Anyone with experience following the process provide some insight in what may be going on? I kind of need to figure out living, job and other life considerations for the fall.

I appealed my business transfer rejection back in early April and got the email about a week later.

Thank you.

Nopeeeee still have been told that its still being reviewed when I call.

Where did you guys accept admission at in the meantime? Or what are your plans until then? I need to move up north and it’s all stressing, literally getting no grants and just wish I could stay here (I’m local in SD).

Yeah same here, when I call, they say I’m still under evaluation as a CS major. I accepted admission at San Marcos, it’s a bit of a drive but I’ll have to deal with it I guess! One of my friends that appealed for Public Health heard back earlier today through email, he didn’t get in, unfortunately :l

Heard back yesterday that I didn’t get in. I’m not too bummed considering I will be attending one of my other top universities. Good luck to everybody still waiting. I wish y’all the best! P.S I was a biological sciences major.

@catsarelife8 sorry about that, but congrats on getting into your other top colleges!! May I ask your stats and did they email you about the denial?

Anyone still waiting?

yup, nothing yet

same

I got accepted omg I’ve been crying of happiness

Congrats! What is your major and basis for appeal?

@Soleva congrats, when did you submit your appeal? and what was your basis if you don’t mind me asking?

@RipCity11 @JCM thanks guys. ill try to provide as much info as I can
Transfer student. Most of my GEs were done in LA, but remaining GE and major classes were all done in Grossmont. The basis of my appeal was that my spouse is stationed in San Diego and about my deteriorating mental health during my first years at community college due to problems in my old home. I had a super low GPA in my old community college, to a 4.0 in Grossmont. I retook all the classes I failed and did academic renewal on one semester at my old college. 3.2 was the highest I could get my GPA when it was time to apply to transfer. I also included copies of my husband’s military orders.
Major: Art, emphasis on Graphic Design
GPA: 3.2
Pre-reqs: All A’s, missing 2 not offered at Grossmont
Denied decision: 2/28/19
Email of received appeal: 3/28/19 (mailed on the 26th)
Contacted student ombudsman and filed a “complaint” (after reading other students in the past having to contact the ombudsman to kick up the process when its been way past the 6 week mark): 7/16/19
Email requesting spring 2019 grades: 7/16/19 (few hours after I filed the complaint)
Email confirmation of final transcripts from Grossmont received: 7/24/19
Email stating that I need to register my SDSU ID: 7/30/19
^ that email confused me because I didn’t receive an admitted/denied email, but then I logged in my web portal and the decision was changed to “admitted 7/30/19” with the congratulations statement at the top. It has checkmarks on all of my previous transcripts received and I can see my unofficial transcript.

I haven’t received an email of what steps to take so I’ll call tomorrow. There’s no registration date for classes and it won’t let me sign up for orientation.
