SDSU Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

DENIED
abt 1:10 pm
GPA: 3.8
SAT 1270
pretty freaking sad

Just denied for pre-Kinesiology. Stats on the bubble. Thoughts on appeal process? This is one of DD’s tied first choice schools. There is a bit about her personal circumstances she could have gone into (alcoholic/homeless dad; abusive coach, brother with disabilities to whom most of my attention has been focused last 3 years). Just not sure its worth the stress of having her dredge all that up and share if chances are so slim.

Lol wut happened…

Denied for History. I’m pretty sad because this is only one of the schools my parents could afford. If I couldn’t go here, I hoped I would at least get to go to Long Beach but I was denied there too. I did get accepted to Fullerton, Chico, and Pomona but I have an idea in my head that commuter schools don’t really provide the full college experience. I’m disappointed; I definitely thought the college application would help my self-esteem, but instead has made me feel even worse about my future. Jfc

@futureabogada i don’t know about the other schools you got into but i know that chico isn’t too much of a commuter school most people go there if they’re in the same situation as you got into schools but can’t afford them or didn’t get into impact led stats schools like sdsu and they are known for their very vibrant social life

My son just got denied

Just rejected. In state CSU gpa 3.91 31 act pre journalism public relations. Really shocked and confused. My counselor suggested the appeals process because she thinks there may have been an error in my application. For everyone else rejected I am sorry and I feel your pain. Hopefully everyone else has another option.

Futureabogada, when one door closes, another opens. I was saddened by what you said. I am an attorney (whose son has applied), and I am here to tell you that if you attend Fullerton, Pomona or Chico, and do well, your future is still bright! I went from a CSU school in undergrad to be an attorney, and so can you! Make the best of it, and don’t let college rejections get you down or define you.

My DS just denied admission for Finance
GPA 3.9
ACT 31

Rejected from all schools he applied to but one (waitlisted).
To all the kids feeling sad, we understand. It’s hard to feel like you did everything the right way only to be turned away. This entire process has been shocking. Based on historical data, admission should have been a given. However, it seems that there was a record number of applicants at every school.

and @futureabogada I left San Diego State to go to San Jose State. While San Diego was great school, it turned out not to be great for my major so I did the right thing for my future. Although SJSU is known to be a commuter school I MADE it a full college experience and had the time of my life. I joined a sorority and got involved. Gained leadership skills through my sorority, and was involved with philanthropic endeavors. I never thought a sorority was for me but I took a leap of faith and did it anyways. It brought me out of my shell and I have life long friendships. It does not have to be a frat or sorority though. It can be whatever you want that helps you find “your people” at your school of choice. Living at the dorms was a great experience too and I never felt ripped off of a full college experience. I also had a cousin who went to Fullerton and loved it!

@futureabogada I have a daughter at Chico and she LOVES it! It wasn’t her first choice but she is so happy to be there. She just applied for the Grad program and would love to make the town her forever home. The dorm prices are a lot cheaper than SoCal dorm prices and housing after dorms are less expensive and college friendly apartments.
This Daughter declined for SDSU today. Pre criminal justice major. She expected to be declined but wanted to go and had some hope and held off accepting to Fullerton… so pretty sure that is where she will be going. She hasn’t heard back from Long Beach but don’t think we are going to wait until next week to find out.

Congrats to all that got in! And sorry for all that didn’t - at least we finally know and can move on!

Does anyone know if there is a similar thread to this one for Cal State Long Beach? Thank you
