SDSU Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

Did anyone get accepted today?

@sendhelp4me My daughter is a sophomore at SFSU, feel free to message me with any questions you might have.

D rejected today for Biology
4.1 GPA
1220 SAT
4460 EI
OK–doesn’t matter b/c she got into UC Davis, her dream school

Irony. My daughter was rejected. But accepted at UCSD, UCIrvine, UCD, Cal Poly, SFSU, etc… city and Regional Planning type major. 4.2, 1180 SAT, obviously great essays, a lot depends on your major folks!

D’s choices for film is down to SDSU, CSUF and UC Irvine. She is interested in the production side of film and TV more than the critical. Does anyone know about which school is a better fit for this?

1200 SAT
4.27 UC GPA.

Or if you know of website that compares them, could you send a link?

Folks, my son has a 4.1W GPA, scored 1280 on the SAT (and tons of EC), and was denied for Poli Sci. We live in North San Diego County, and SDSU’s steadfast bias against admitting anyone from that part of the county, and forcing students to go to a far lesser university of CSU San Marcos, is absolutely ridiculous. Fortunately, he has better options, such as UCR and UCSB. But I just had to express my frustration before letting this go; I’m sure I’m not alone in my feelings. And to those of you whose dream was SDSU, I hope you got accepted. And if you did not, I am sorry and you will still be a success wherever you go.

I got rejected for International Conflict and Resolution
GPA: 3.88 W
SAT: 1190
ACT: 25
Essays: probably terrible
ECs: Decent
Major: International Business, Global Econ, Poli Science
Applied: All UCs except UCR, UCM, and Berkeley; CSUF and SDSU
Admission: Rejected across the board; waitlisted at UCSC and accepted at CSUF

So I was rejected from sdsu but i have a higher sat score but a lower gpa due to an illness (w/ a medical leave of absence frequent hospitalizations etc.) do you think it is worth it to appeal because my gpa is lower than it would be if i has not been ill or is it unlikely to get admission after denial?

@seniorrrr2018 Did they know about the extenuating circumstances? If they don’t, I would…

@coollegekid no cal state apply leaves no room on the application to explain situations like these but i have heard it is incredibly hard to turn back an admission decision at any school…sdsu is not my dream school but if i got in i would most likely attend, unless accepted off other waitlists, do you think it is worth it if i am not overly passionate about the school?

@seniorrrr2018 would you rather have no school?

@seniorrrr2018 If you were to not be accepted off of the waitlists of the other schools then your options dwindle to attending a jc with the hopes of transferring to a 4-year. It really boils down to what ever you want. The appeal process is there for a reason. Up to you to determine which path you would be alright with taking. On one hand, a chance at getting into a decent school or…

@coollegekid well i got into other schools that i could attend…i just feel like if i were to not get off of the waitlist for my top choice i would rather go to sdsu than the schools i’ve actually been accepted to i just didn’t know if it actually reasonable to have a successful appeal (not sure if that was clear sorry haha)

@seniorrrr2018 That makes sense. Simple answer, if you want the chance you are going to have to make the effort. You’ll fail 100% of the times you don’t try.

@seniorrrr2018 best of luck getting in to your top school

@coollegekid thank you!! appreciate all you had to say!

do you think getting into CSULB had anything to do with getting denied at SDSU? I’m a bio major…

@trying2graduate: Your decision at one CSU has nothing to do with your decision at other comparable schools. Both schools received a huge # of applicants to a very popular major and can only accept so many students. Congratulations on CSULB which is a great school for STEM.

Uc Irvine is looking more at the critical side of film while sdsu and csuf are more production based.

@tryin2graduate what are ur stats?
