@uc2022hopeful don’t let this get you down! You sound like such a well rounded and dedicated person…keep it up! The state schools only look at stats, nothing else…so they are missing out on an amazing kid, if you ask me. You’ll find the perfect school for you!
@happychick1 thank you so much! i’m so happy I got accepted to UCSB’s political science program! I think my political job and enthusiasm for politics that I talked about in my essays is what got me in. I’m so stoked to have a good option under my belt. Thanks for the kind remarks!
@jjjjjobhyiyvgj I am originally from San Francisco and have visited the campus many times. I do not know about their biochemistry major specifically but I know about the campus. It is a beautiful campus with a brand new gym that just opened this year. All the people there are very nice and the campus is very eco-friendly as well. The location is perfect in San Francisco, it is about a 15-20 minute bus ride away from downtown where there are many internship opportunities and you receive a free bus pass as a San Francisco State student and it can bring you all around SF. It is a beautiful campus in a beautiful city!
@abraham2311 states only look at grades and tests scores not EC or essay’s. My son has a 4.2 and a 35 on act and didn’t get into the schools you did .Not a dig just some facts on the crazy UC system this year… Congrats on your acceptances.
Just found this thread and it’s nice seeing everyone helping each other in comments. I’m still trying to decide where to go and SDSU is tied for my #1 along side CSUMB. But UCSC is still in the mix. My major at SDSU is Criminal Justice, any thoughts on the campus and area itself. I’m in Cali but North Cali so I cant really go to visit. Any thoughts help!
My S and I just toured CSULB, UCI and SDSU to help him make a decision. We are also from N Cal. It was hands down SDSU. It is a beautiful campus in a wonderful city. All freshman and sophomores are required to live on campus, unless they are local, so there seems to be a lot of student life on campus. You should definitely take the admitted student tour if there is anyway you can get down there!
I have toured all 3 with both of my kids. I am partial to sdsu if you want that college feel and experience. All 3 are great. MB has a location which is great and a very small campus so you get a closer knit community but for my daughter it was only 2x her high school in size and she said it was too small. Uscs she didn’t like the layout of the campus nor did she feel safe if she had to move around around night. Too folksy I think for her. Sdsu we just got done touring with my son and he was very surprised at it and it quickly moved up his list. The architecture there is beautiful and they have lots of sports thus ,football and bb games to go to if you want. If you haven’t seen sdsu I would definately check it out. You should also look into the programs as well.
@ baywarrior - Congratulations! Also from NorCal. My neighbor is from SoCal and majored in Criminal Justice at SDSU. He had a very successful career & retired to NorCal to be near grandkids. He’s told me that their program is great. I toured SDSU twice this past year - once during the summer & then for their recent open house. My D got into two UCs, two other state colleges, and two out of state universities. She picked SDSU because of the school spirit (“Aztecs for life” and their football team). Also SDSU is actually the highest rated college (out of the ones she applied to) for her major of International Business. The campus area is warm during the summer & less cloudy/overcast than UCSC & UCSD. The area around the campus is so so, but on campus is a trolley station that connects the campus to downtown San Diego. This year, the are changing their class registration process to make it more flexible for the students (enabling them to open up more classes if there is a demand). Good luck in deciding!
