Just got Honors College acceptance in mail!
Congrats!!
Was the WHC acceptance in postal mail or email?
My son just got his acceptance to honors college in the snail mail today. He is really excited!
Just checked the mailbox and YES my son also got the Weber acceptance in the snail mail too. Good luck to everyone.
My son got WHC acceptance this afternoon. I have a sophomore at SDSU who is in the WHC and he is very happy!!
We received a Weber’s acceptance this afternoon - but it was addressed to another student just ahead of mine alphabetically - at our address. Someone messed up the mail merge. So, we wonder, on this three day weekend, did she get in?
That is so frustrating! Just curious, are people accepted in or out of state? We are in MN.
@ejmcacmc2020 We are in state (So-Cal).
@ejmacacmc2020: Weber’s Honors college has around a 2% acceptance rate based on the # applicants vs. admitted students in previous years.
Did your son get an invite to apply or did he just apply on his own? Getting the invite increases the student’s chances at an acceptance.
Best of luck to him.
Very excited to say that my son got the Weber admission card yesterday. In state, pre-communications major.
Does anyone know about the scholarships that are available for Weber students? The website says the applications open in March, but doesn’t give much in the way of details about criteria or amount.
@pickledginger:
**Weber Honors College Scholarship:
Scholarship Value: Renewable awards of $1,000 - $7,500 per year
The Weber Honors College awards approximately ten scholarships each year to students who apply by the priority consideration deadline and are accepted into the fall cohort of the Weber Honors College
My Son hasn’t received anything but does hope to be accepted to WHC. Did those who were accepted receive any additional notice on the portal or by email?
My daughter also hasn’t received the letter either. I’m wondering will they let you know if you are rejected? Or do you just know when you don’t get an acceptance letter?
@Gumbymom @Banker1 Do you happen to know if the merit scholarship covers full tuition for all 4 years? Or is it a set amount for those 4 years, with any increases in tuition left uncovered? I ask because my D received the letter offering her the scholarship on Friday, but it only specifically states an amount for 4 years (and it’s this year’s tuition amount – don’t know if tuition will increase next year). I plan on contacting the school on Monday, but wondered if either of you happened to know.
@amsunshine: It would be better to call since schools can change the amounts and how merit scholarships are handled. I am assuming that amount is the same for all 4 years regardless if tuition increases.
Any info on when regular acceptances will be going out for SDSU? I saw in the forum that early admission and Honors have been distributed. Any idea when everyone else will hear?
Based on previous years decision will start on 2/24
@amsunshine I agree with your plan to inquire with Admissions to be sure. My D is finishing up her 2nd year and I don’t remember seeing any increases. We don’t make any payments through the account portal since she is off campus this year buying groceries. Year 1 we made only housing / food plan payments listed in her account. Anything listed as Tuition gets paid by school.
Thank you!
So son says he just got an email declining his admission to WHC. I admit I’m a little relieved as I’d like him to seriously consider LMU, too, and wait on the UC’s to chime in. He was getting a little ahead of himself, I think, and I don’t want him necessarily falling in love with any particular school until he can weigh his options. Don’t want his confidence hurt either, but, you know…
