SDSU Class of 2024 Application Thread

So online for fall it is. Anybody going to skip the SDSU semester and zoom it through JC or gap or work full time?

Yes, DD decided to skip SDSU at this time. She hates online classes and didn’t see the point of paying thousands right now when things won’t be close to normal for another year. She may take a semester off or start community college and will get her AA degree then transfer.

Has anyone been accepted off the waitlist? Almost all of the UCs have accepted students from the waitlist but I have not heard a thing about SDSU’s waitlist.

@bjood2every1: I have only seen one poster state they have been accepted off the waitlist as an OOS applicant. Not sure how many students have been accepted, but if there are admits, they are not posting on College Confidential. This is true for all the Cal states, where I have seen little activity. Like you stated, the UC’s are very active but much can be contributed to OOS and International applicants and the increased tuition costs in comparison to the CSU’s.

@bgood2every1 @Gumbymom I’ve been wondering the same thing. There seems to be much more discussion about SDSU Appeals than the Waitlist. Any thoughts why that might be happening?

@honeybeedoors: I really cannot account for why there is little waitlist activity for SDSU or other CSU’s. I do know that other college websites are getting more postings due to some issues regarding the revamping of the CC site and it is no longer as user friendly as before.

Also I noticed that for SDSU in particular, they have already posted the 2020 Nursing admit stats which seems to indicate that they have filled their in-coming Freshman class. Perhaps with Covid-19, many more students have accepted their admission and are staying closer to home.

Regarding appeals, maybe the appealing students are also leaning towards staying closer to home and an uncertain financial picture so SDSU is a good option for them at this point.

My son noticed that the waitlist option at the bottom of his portal is removed. Has anyone else noticed this? We are in state and close to local.

@NightHawkIV My son’s is the same. It might have changed after the May 1st deadline to accept a spot on the waitlist. The language at the top regarding the waitlist hasn’t changed.

@Gumbymom I have not found a waitlist end date on the Admissions website. The only date I’ve found is “early June” from his portal.

I was waitlisted for nursing but got admitted at around May 6! I accepted and am attending :slight_smile:

@vmr394: Congratulations and Go Aztecs!!

Anyone get off waitlist yet?

My son has not heard yet.

My daughter found out yesterday, by email, that she got off the waitlist. She wanted to go to SDSU but ended up getting into UCSB two weeks ago and committed. Hopefully, they will start to accept more students off the waitlist soon.

was anyone admitted off the waitlist for biology? and does anyone know when the new wave will come out?

My son was accepted off the waitlist yesterday, Friday, June 19, for Electrical Engineering. He will be attending Cal Poly SLO and passing on SDSU.
