SDSU Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

What do people think of the residential communities? My daughter is wondering if they are mandatory and what people think of them.

The LLC’s are not mandatory. My niece a 3rd year did not select one for Freshman year. My son selected a couple on the application and was placed into Emerging Leaders which was not on his list. Made a good group of friends within the LLC so he found it was worth it.

Accepted into Psychology! International applicant with california residency. So happy and thankful:heart::heart::sob:

I agree, it seems like a weird year. I don’t have any prior experience from previous years since this is our first time around but I really feel like due to no SAT a lot of kids are not making the cuts at schools (especially state schools) that they are great fits for. Having only a high GPA is not a solid indicator that you will succeed in college. I have kids in two different high schools and I can see that it is a day and night.

He is waitlisted at UCLA. Do you think UCLA is better than SLO for computer engineering? How does one find out which school has a better program? Feel so clueless…

I don’t go to any of these schools so take my opinion however you would like. When it comes to computer science or computer engineering, school prestige will only matter up to a point. These majors require a lot of work outside the classroom and extracurriculars to secure a job after graduation. The factors I am considering in my own journey as a computer science transfer are, Prestige, Networking capabilities, History of companies that recruit from the school, and ofcourse campus life. The education you get from SLO or UCLA is going to be more or less the same in my opinion but its the opportunities that you engage in outside of the classroom that are really going to set you apart from your peers.

I appreciate your opinion. I agree with what you said.

Ofcourse. Also both of those schools are amazing and whichever he decides to go to will set him up for success.

Hey everyone, I got accepted into SDSU for kinesiology. SDSU and UCR are my top choices as of rn. Do you guys think that SDSU is good for POCs ?

I’ve been wondering about that, too. Here are some campus data about who is enrolled in Fall 2020. It looks like about 1/3 white and 1/3 Latinx and 15% API. Enrollment by Ethnicity Data Table – Analytic Studies & Institutional Research

That’s not really an answer to your question, but offers some information about the campus environment.

Thanks for the reply! I also got admitted to UC Davis and UC San Diego and I’m waiting for the waitlist decision from my in state school U of Washington. I think I’m leaning to UCSD if I don’t get into UW.

I was also admitted to UC Davis and SDSU. I am trying to decide between the two, does anyone have an opinion? My major is sociology at UC Davis and Public Health at SDSU. I’m honestly unsure of what I want to do but leaning towards Public Health, but I know I could just change my major at Davis too.

I loved my time at SDSU! There is a little bit of something for every culture there. As a URM, it helped with my thesis which was based on 2nd language acquisition speakers. It helped that I could speak the language and write in both English and Spanish when conducting my research with parents.

We’re in SD, and my middle daughter went to Davis and loved it! There are 40K bikes on campus in a regular year. Learn to avoid the Freshman Stripe!

The Napa Wineries sponsor buildings, as well as activities. It’s a great, active “college town”. Visit and you’ll see it in the student’s facial expressions.

@startsummer. I had one son attend SDSU and one son attend UCD.

SDSU son was very social, into Greek life and loved being in the city.

Other son liked the small town atmosphere of UCD, more relaxed/collaborative nature of the students and being close to outdoor activities.

Different personalities for different schools. Definitely visit both if you get a chance since the visits sealed the deal for both my son’s.

Can’t go wrong with either school!

My daughter applied to the dance program at SDSU. An out-of-state admissions counselor called her two weeks ago and told her she didn’t get into the program. She said her application was strong and wanted to know if she had an alternate major she would like to be considered for. My daughter chose International Business - Italian and Western Europe and found out she got in today! We feel very fortunate! I think she wants to minor in dance or just take classes in the community. We are out of state. She also got into UCSB. She didn’t get into dance, but they considered her alternate major, pre-communication. The dance department told her she can audition in person in September or take classes as a pre-communication major. She got into the dance program at CSULB. She did not get into UCLA College of Letters and Science. She has a lot to think about, but it’s all good!

Did you hear from SDSU? Hopefully good news!

No! Still pending in the portal. Literally on pins and needles!

For those who portal stills says pending, my D got admitted this morning, 3/29, as an undeclared major. There’s still hope!
