My daughter has just started her Junior year and we’ve started college visits. We’re visiting schools that appear to be likely matches or even safeties based on her GPA/class rigor through 10th grade, and her practice test scores for SAT/ACT (which obviously will change). My question is…is this just too early to get a sense of what schools would likely accept her based on her stats? She will be very busy in spring with extracurricular activities and there won’t be much time to visit schools then.
Thank you!
I think you will have a good idea on what schools to look at…you can also look next summer if things change a bunch.
we are also looking this fall and my s also a junior. We added a couple of reaches that we will delay visiting until we see his SAT/ACT scores, but for the most part I think uw GPA and psat are a decent indicator.
We started looking for both kids in the fall of junior year. We had a pretty good sense of where they were academically. We also tried to show them some different types of schools early on so they could start to think about what they wanted in a college.
Thank you for the input. It does seem less stressful to start early as long as she doesn’t change her mind on what she wants!
