seasonal gardening

I have been trying to find a good, comprehensive source for seasonal gardening “chores”. Things like when to prune different plants/shrubs, when to feed, when to divide, etc. I have several books and have searched online sites, but have yet to find a comprehensive one.

Does anyone know of a book that is good on this subject–ideally one that is divided to the specific growing zones or regions of the country?

I have checked a book out of our library that is a month by month guide for our specific region and a quick check of the online bookstores shows that it is one of a series for various regions of the US. The titles all seem to start with “Month by Month Gardening in…”. But, each title is for a specific region. They don’t attempt to address gardening throughout the US.

Part of the publisher’s synopsis states:

Thanks Greta, I will look online now!

That was weird, how did my answer post above yours? :)

Sorry, I think maybe I was editing the quote I inserted when you responded…I messed up the bracket thing on the first attempt. One of those weird CC moments in time.

I just found it on Amazon and ordered. Thanks so much!

If you like perennials I recommend “The Well-Tended Perennial Garden” by Tracy DiSabato-Aust. It gives plant-by-plant information on when to prune and other maintenance, as well as well as a month-by-month guide to what you should be doing in your garden.

Good. Another book to look for, I will have quite the library and thus no excuses!

Thanks.
