Seattle Central to BU -- Coming from Miami, Fl

Hello all,

Forgive me if the question of transferring from Seattle Central C.C. has been asked before, but i think mine may be a bit different because of my situation. I am currently living in Miami, Fl. I got my high school diploma (from a private home schooling program) in 2008. After graduating I started at Miami Dade College. I won’t give any excuses, I was plainly quite immature. My first semester i dropped all my courses (because “i didn’t like them”) except Biology & Biology Lab. I received an A in both classes. After that, every semester was the same, drop, drop, drop and the one’s I didn’t drop I would stop attending and received an F and a D. It won’t come as a surprise that I was placed in academic probation. I stopped attending the college and enrolled in a small private school where I studied to become an EMT. I was very successful. Became class president and finished with a 3.9 GPA.

So this is where i’m at now. I’m a nationally registered and state licensed EMT. I figured that my dream of becoming a physician (this was my goal from the start) was definitely out of my reach. I’ve been working in an Ambulance company ever since and contemplating on becoming a paramedic or a nurse. The problem is that, I don’t feel satisfied with those options. I mean those careers are truly amazing and I respect them both VERY much, as I have met incredible Paramedics and Nurses, but I just don’t feel happy pursuing such professions. After A LOT of thinking I decided to to start again and go after what I truly want. I know i’m a little behind because i’m already 21 (although not by much) and what really messes everything up is my academic past, BUT i just have this feeling that I shoulddd go after what I want, i can’t help but give it one more chance.

Well sorry for all the mumbo jumbo about my past. To the real question now…

If I enter Seattle Central and attempt at only earning A’s how much of a chance do i really have at transferring into BU? I know BU is top-notch and maybe it shouldn’t be one of my choices, but I’ve always been interested in BU’s Human Anatomy and Physiology major. I am willing to move up there, leave everything behind to give it a shot. Aside from attempting to get excellent grades I’m going to volunteer and join organizations. Everything and anything to improve my chances of acceptance. I am ready for this.

Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.

P.S. ---- If anyone thinks I have a better chance by attending a c.c. in Boston, please suggest which one you think would be good, since I don’t really have much of an idea about the colleges over there.
