Hello. I did not want to hijack the other user’s thread on this similar topic.
I’m a currently a junior in college. It took a while for me to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and I’ve switched my majors a few times. I have finally settled on history and am doing ok with it. But, I’ve now figured out that I want to go into accounting, and my school doesn’t offer an accounting program, so I have to get another degree for that elsewhere.
I currently have 4 withdrawals on my transcript and a 2.9 gpa that is on an upward trend (my gpa took a hit during my freshman year when I was trying to do pre-med). However, there is one sociology class that I would like to withdraw from now since I don’t like it and don’t need to take it.
My question is, do I still have a chance at getting into a school as a second degree student when I might have five withdrawals on my transcript? Will my reasoning of the courses not fitting my educational needs be a sufficient explanation? Or will schools look at the w’s and reject me?
Also, how do colleges view students who attempt to immediately get another bachelor’s degree, especially students who seek to do so immediately after getting their first degree?
