Do any of these exist at Uchicago? I’ve always found them interesting.

Sure! There are loads of them and they’re fairly easy to find, hence the ‘secret’ part of it.

Honestly, I have no idea. My guess would be a no, simply because UChi doesn’t have the same atmosphere as Harvard or anything like that. But hey, you never know.

They are so secret at Chicago that even their existence is kept quiet.

FWIW, they are probably as well known as the average GPA of undergraduates and the undergrad grade distribution.

They do. My son described it on ‘Oprah’.

what did your son say?

Yes, there are secret societies. No, you are unlikely to ever get into one since there are only two that I know of (one liberal, one conservative). In general, they fit the stereotype kind of ultra-refined frat boy (and a few girls) events. I would wager 90% of undergraduates have no idea whatsoever they exist since they actually were started and are still primarily managed by former HYP alumni turned professional students. The majority of members are almost always Law and GSB affiliates.
